Supporting Your Child Through Every Stage of Growth
As a parent, watching your child struggle can be one of the hardest experiences to navigate. Whether you're noticing changes in their mood, relationships, confidence, eating habits, or ability to cope with everyday stress, it's natural to wonder how to best support them. You don't have to figure it out alone.
At Bamboo Nutrition & Therapy, we believe every child and teen deserves a space where they feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Therapy provides a trusted relationship where young people can explore their thoughts and emotions, build healthy coping skills, and develop the confidence to navigate life's challenges. At the same time, we recognize that lasting growth happens beyond the therapy room. That's why we partner closely with parents and caregivers, helping you better understand your child's needs while strengthening communication, connection, and resilience within your family.
What makes Bamboo Nutrition & Therapy different is our deeply collaborative approach. We don't just focus on what's happening during a 50-minute therapy session—we consider every aspect of your child's well-being. When appropriate, we work alongside parents, physicians, dietitians, psychiatrists, schools, and other trusted members of your child's support system to create coordinated, individualized care. By bringing together the people who know and support your child best, we help ensure they receive consistent, compassionate care in every area of their life.
Our goal is simple: to help children and teens grow into confident, resilient young people while empowering families with the tools, support, and partnership they need along the way.
Building Confidence, Connection & Resilience
Every child and teen experiences challenges differently, and therapy should reflect their unique stage of development. At Bamboo Nutrition & Therapy, we tailor treatment to each young person's age, personality, strengths, and goals while partnering with families to help them thrive both inside and outside the therapy room.

You Don’t Have To Navigate This Alone
-
Children in late elementary school are learning how to understand big emotions, build friendships, and gain independence while still relying heavily on their parents for guidance. Therapy at this age is active, engaging, and collaborative, with parents playing an important role in the therapeutic process.
Common reasons families seek therapy include:
Anxiety and excessive worry
Emotional outbursts or difficulty regulating emotions
Low self-esteem and confidence
Friendship struggles or bullying
ADHD and executive functioning challenges
Neurodivergent support
Family transitions such as divorce, grief, or relocation
Early body image or eating concerns
Adoption and foster care adjustment
Parent coaching and support for adoptive and foster families
Parents are included throughout treatment to help reinforce new skills at home, strengthen family communication, and support lasting growth.
-
The tween years often bring rapid emotional, physical, and social changes. As children begin exploring their identity and seeking more independence, therapy provides a safe space to process these changes while helping parents remain connected and supportive.
Therapy may address:
Anxiety and depression
Emotional regulation
Friendship conflict and peer pressure
Self-esteem and body image
Disordered eating or emerging eating disorders
Perfectionism and school-related stress
ADHD and executive functioning
Neurodivergence
Identity development
Family communication challenges
Major life transitions
As tweens become more independent, we continue partnering closely with parents while also providing a confidential space where young people can openly express themselves.
-
The teenage years can be exciting, overwhelming, and everything in between. Teens are balancing increasing independence, academic expectations, relationships, future planning, and developing their sense of identity. Therapy offers a judgment-free environment where they can explore challenges honestly while learning practical tools for lifelong emotional wellness.
Common areas of support include:
Eating disorders and disordered eating
Body image concerns
Anxiety and depression
Suicidal thoughts or self-injurious behaviors
Emotional regulation
Academic stress and perfectionism
Relationships and dating
Peer conflict
Identity and self-esteem
ADHD and executive functioning
Neurodivergent support
Family communication
Preparing for college and other life transitions
While respecting a teen's privacy, we continue to involve parents whenever appropriate so everyone is working toward the same goals. We also collaborate with physicians, dietitians, psychiatrists, schools, and other members of the support team to ensure teens receive comprehensive, coordinated care.
Ready When You Are
Finding the right support for your child starts with a conversation. Tell us a little about your family, and we'll help match you with the therapist who is the best fit.
Frequently Asked Questions By Parents
-
You don't have to wait until your child is in crisis to seek support. Therapy can be helpful if you've noticed changes in your child's mood, eating habits, behavior, relationships, school performance, confidence, or ability to cope with everyday stress. Many families also seek therapy during major life transitions or simply because they want their child to have additional support and tools to navigate life's challenges.
-
Getting started is simple.
Complete our work with us form or contact our office.
Our team will learn more about your child's age, concerns, scheduling needs, and preferences.
We'll thoughtfully match your family with the therapist who is the best fit.
We'll verify your insurance benefits (if applicable) and help schedule your first appointment.
Our goal is to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible so your family can focus on what matters most.
-
Rather than asking families to choose a therapist on their own, we take the time to help match you with the provider who best fits your child's age, presenting concerns, personality, scheduling needs, and treatment goals.
Children ages 10-13 are currently seen by Courtni Lovell, who specializes in working with children, tweens, and families. Our additional therapists work with teens ages 14 and older.
If you have preferences regarding a therapist's specialty, personality, or treatment approach, we're happy to take those into consideration during the matching process.
Want to learn more about our team? Visit our Meet Our Therapists page to learn about each provider's background, specialties, and approach before getting started.
-
The first session is an opportunity for your therapist to get to know your child and understand your family's concerns. For some concerns, such as an eating disorder, it is a time to also assess needs for support and provide recommendations, if applicable.
Depending on your child's age and needs, the first visit may include time with both the parent and child together, as well as individual time with your child or teen. We'll also discuss goals for therapy and answer any questions you may have about the process.
-
Yes. We believe parents and caregivers are an essential part of a child's support system.
The level of parent involvement depends on your child's age, developmental stage, and treatment goals. While we also provide children and teens with a safe, confidential space to express themselves, we collaborate with parents to strengthen communication, reinforce skills at home, and support lasting progress.
-
Absolutely.
One of the things that makes Bamboo Nutrition & Therapy unique is our collaborative approach to care. With your permission, we can coordinate with pediatricians, physicians, psychiatrists, dietitians, schools, teachers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other members of your child's support team to ensure everyone is working toward the same goals.
We believe children make the greatest progress when the people supporting them are connected.
We will never reach out to other providers without your consent on a signed Release of Information. This is one of the first pieces of paperwork you will receive and it can always be updated throughout our work together.
-
Self-pay rates vary depending on the therapist providing services.
We will review self pay rates when discussing which therapist you will be working with.
For insurance information, please visit our Therapy Rates & Insurance page. If you have questions about your coverage or payment options, our administrative team is happy to help.
-
Many of our therapists are in-network with a variety of commercial insurance plans.
Because participation varies by provider, we'll verify your benefits before your first appointment and explain any expected out-of-pocket costs.
Our therapists are out of network with Medicaid and Medicare plans. We can provide a superbill upon request and have discounted spots available.
-
This is more common than many parents realize.
Our therapists work hard to build trust and create an environment where children and teens feel respected, understood, and empowered. We never force conversations before a child is ready, and we meet each young person where they are. As comfort and trust grow, meaningful progress often follows.
-
Instead of focusing only on symptoms, we focus on the whole child. Our therapists partner with families and collaborate with physicians, dietitians, schools, psychiatrists, and other trusted providers to create individualized care that supports emotional, physical, and relational well-being. We believe that when children feel understood and the adults around them are working together, lasting change becomes possible.
