GLP-1 Nutrition Support

For those considering, taking, or recently discontinued a GLP-1 medication

You may be experiencing…

  • Lack of interest in eating. Its challenging to be around food, I don’t like going out to eat with others or attending events where food is a big deal.

  • Feeling as though everyone is watching you eat, judging your plate, commenting on your body. Feeling watched is uncomfortable and its impacting relationships and body image.

  • Weakness, loss of muscle, feeling as though weight is coming off, but maybe not the “right” weight? Fatigue comes easily and its hard to get into a movement routine.

  • Eating whatever is convenient and easy. Cooking and meal planning skills may not have been strong before, and now they feel more daunting. Its hard cooking for one, or hard cooking when I know I may waste a lot of the food. It feels wrong forcing myself to eat, I don’t trust myself to eat the “correct” amount.

  • Intake is limited, or mostly fast-food, snack foods; it feels hard to eat a balanced meal or get in enough protein. Meal planning has gone out the window!

  • Gastrointestinal issues keep coming up. Either my stomach doesn’t feel right, or I have diarrhea, or I’m constipated. Its been forever since I’ve had a normal bowel movement and I don’t know if I wait this out, or adjust my diet or fluid intake.

How can we help

  1. Maintaining muscle-mass

  2. Supporting you finding a movement routine that is supported by your intake and physical goals

  3. Discussing ways to reduce gastrointestinal distress. Whether it be adjusting fluids or nutrition, we want to help you get back to regularity and reduce discomfort

  4. Improve your nutrition understanding and literacy. This is a time to build better habits, learn ways to meal plan, improve cooking/meal prep consistency, and increase awareness around nutrition so you feel confident in your intake.

  5. Develop comfort with your body and eating around others. Food should feel simple, not like a chore or something you feel anxious about and want to avoid. Developing a positive relationship with food is an important priority during this time.
